Meredith Millett: Hi, my name is Meredith Millett. I'm the Director of Talent Solutions here at Franklin Apprenticeships and the Talent Team here at Franklin will be with you on your journey to a new career. That journey begins in Pre-Apprenticeship, so I'm here to answer a few common questions about our Pre-Apprenticeship program.
What is the Pre-Apprenticeship?
Meredith Millett: program? This is your gateway to a career in IT. We're currently offering five Pre- Apprenticeship programs. They all offer foundational learning in an IT subject. You also will get access to a subject- -matter expert in the industry if you get stuck along the way with some technical content and support from a Franklin Success Coach. It's a comprehensive program and it's due to be completed 50 to 100 hours depending on the course that you select. These are done online on your own time, but with the guided support that I mentioned.
Why do I need to do it? What’s in it for me?
Meredith Millett: Why do you want to put in 100 hours 50 hours of your own time? And what I'd like to say is it's a chance for you to dip your toe in the water before really jumping into a new career. It's a way for you to see if you have the technical aptitude. There are labs involved with a lot of these Pre-Apprenticeship, so you really get some hands on knowledge and experience working in some of these IT subjects. You will get digital badges along the way and a certificate of completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship. We encourage you to put that on your resume and your LinkedIn profile. We found that employers are very impressed with those that go through this program and complete it. It does make you stand apart from other applicants
How much does the Pre-Apprenticeship program cost? Why do you need my personal info? Do I get paid?
Meredith Millett: Our pre apprenticeship programs are currently grant funded, so we are going to ask you to fill out a grant form with some personal information. These Pre-Apprenticeship programs are unpaid. The training is no cost to you, and it is a gateway, as I mentioned before, to a full apprenticeship program, and those are full-time, paid apprenticeships.
Is the training virtual or in person? How do I get support? What are Success Coaches?
Meredith Millett: Okay, our pre apprenticeships are online self paced modules. Anywhere from 50 to 100 hours, depending on the program type. The Franklin Success Coach is going to take that self paced model and turn it into self-guided. So, we'll be there to guide you along the way, help you meet deadlines so you can get those interviews with the employers that are hiring. now. We also have access to industry support experts and you'll have access to a Slack channel to communicate with other Pre-Apprenticeship learners.
What happens after the Pre-Apprenticeship? Am I guaranteed a job afterwards?
Meredith Millett: This is the best part. You'll be prepared, confident and more convinced than ever about taking on a new career in technology. We have companies all over the United States looking for tech talent and because you've invested your own time and successfully completed the pre apprenticeship, these employers are going to recognize you as a Franklin Apprenticeship Candidate. Our Pre-Apprenticeships are a pre-requisite to interview with these companies and to enter our full apprenticeship opportunities we'll present you with job opportunities as we get them and we'll prepare you to have a great interview experience.
