Speaker: Jeannette Nunez Abreu
Please Introduce yourself.
Jeannette Nunez Abreu: Hi, I'm Jeanette Nunez. I was class of 2021. I am now a sophomore at Villanova University and I'm major in marketing with the concentration in digital marketing and a business law minor.
Tells us about the Round Table application and interview process.
Jeannette Nunez Abreu: From what I can remember about my application process, it was the first year that this opportunity was given to the senior students and I just decided to give it a try because compared to other scholarship applications, I was only competing against 60, 70 students who I knew because I've been with them since I was in fifth grade. Compared to like, let's say if I was applying for the Mcdonald's scholarship, I would be competing with students all around the nation that I don't know of. so I felt like I had a higher chance of actually receiving the scholarship and it does help me a lot financially and my interview process, it was very easy. I did go in a bit nervous, but there was nothing to be nervous about. Honestly, these are just, these are just people that I want to know about your life. Um just see why you believe that you're fit to receive this scholarship. And for me personally, I love to talk about myself, my accomplishments, your senior time, like your senior year is the time where you just get to talk about yourself and everything you've accomplished throughout your high school years. So I love that part about the internship, about not the internship interview process. and I felt like I could honestly just express myself. I talked about my personal life what I do for fun, It was very easy going process for me.
How has being a Round Table Scholar impacted your college career so far?
Jeannette Nunez Abreu: Being a round table scholar has really impacted my college career in such a positive way, which I'm forever grateful for one of them being the financial help that they provide. So when I was going through my college process, like my application process, I remember money being a big thing on my mind, just kind of worrying about how many, how much debt I was going to be at the end of the four years because I did want my college to be the perfect match for me, I had a lot of things on my checklist, I wanted my school to be big, I wanted it to have the school spirit within sports, I wanted it to have a good alumni networking program for it to be good for my major for it to be academically driven and I wanted a lot of things and that comes with a big price tag and I'm just so grateful for the financial help that the Round Table Scholarship provides for me because it helped me be able to attend the school, my top school. And secondly I love just coming back every year and talking to students like you guys because we all were in your shoes at one point in life. So just being able for you to see like a good representation of what it looks like, like what you're, where you're gonna be in a few months. I just really enjoyed that aspect
Is there anything else you would like the class of 2023 to know?
Jeannette Nunez Abreu: One last thing I can say is that the class of 2023 is college is nothing to be scared about. I remember when my days were approaching to actually leave home, I was terrified. but it's going to be a change in a good way. You, once you leave high school, you are going to start off on a clean slate, you're going to make new friends, thrive in a different environment overall, you're going to find yourself. I have been here for two years now and it has been the best time of my life honestly. and just like in a couple of weeks, I end my semester and then I am a junior which seems so surreal to talk about It honestly feels like I just got here, your time is gonna go by so quickly. but it's honestly going to be so great and if you get to your school and you start your classes and you feel as though you're comparing yourself and just kind of questioning how you even got to where you are right now, you don't feel as though you're as smart as other people. I remember I struggled with that my freshman year just keep telling yourself that you got like you're here for a reason, You got there for a reason and you're just capable of being great!
