Can you share why you’re interested in the Corporate Tax Assistant role?
Joshua Adamson: I'm very interested in the corporate tax system role mainly for sort of, sort of 1 to 2 reasons. The first reason is I used to work at a professional services firm, um, rotating around in tax. Um, I did that for 18 months, uh whilst rotating around in the area of the tax. I, um, I worked a bit on, on, I did a bit of corporate tax work and, um, working with the clients sort of nature, um, meant it meant a lot for me and it also was one of my favorite sort of areas of tax. Um, compared to the other ones I've done. Um, I've also got the experience working in that sort of industry. Um, I've worked with a few financial clients as well, um, financial services and so forth. Um, I feel like my sort of verbal communication skills, being able to talk to clients would be a sort of great sort of fit in a sort of a tax role, especially in a corporate role working with numerous clients, um, including the sports industry. Um, and I role
Please share something about yourself that isnt on your CV.
Joshua Adamson: Um I'd say one of the sort of things that isn't on my resume and CV, that um should be, would be my sort of passion about sports. Um So I have a very sort of strong passion in cricket and also in football, um to kind of show that I used to play five a side football um in my old previous role and also used to play football, um Sunday league every single weekend sort of until about 17. Um And then cricket wise, I um started that since I was young and kind of continued that all the way through playing at quite a high level. Uh in some scenarios now I'm playing five a side with my friends for like almost a bit of fun, the tournament, it sort of relate to the work, sort of setting. I'd say by the sort of communication skills that you'd learn, um playing football at a high level and playing cricket at a high level. You've got to kind of be vocal throughout the sort of thing. So I have to play the center mid, gotta be vocal throughout the whole team leading a team almost, um which is something I kind of showed aspects of um and also in cricket, being able to um speak clearly, especially when you're kind of covered with a helmet and stuff. So projecting your voice for which like I can kind of carry into a role like this um speak to clients and uh other colleagues at a high level.
Describe your perfect company culture.
Joshua Adamson: I'd say my perfect company culture would be sort of a, a mixture of, um, sort of a, a very hard working environment also quite, I wouldn't say fun. Um, but sort of like an enjoyable environment to work in. So to that kind of an example, I'd say, um, there'd be the occasional sort of, um, like go out maybe after work as in just, just to do whatever you like and um, do like an activity or anything, go to the park, go for a walk with people and that kind of be a, a thing that's kind of almost um accepted and enjoyed. But also there's got to be a hard working aspect. So when you're in the office to, I'd like just to get, get the work done, everything's done and then you can enjoy after you've done the work. Um, but I also took everyone to be sort of equal um opportunities to be equal. Um, no sort of prejudism um, or any of that sort and that'd be it.
Describe the perfect team
Joshua Adamson: I would say, um to make a good team, I think the main sort of thing you should have is, is sort of uh at the outset, everyone kind of comes together, you, you have kind of set roles. Um But that does not mean you can't um input on something else that someone else may contain. Um It just means you kind of have a set role you can work towards. Um So there's no sort of issues always check in with uh each other so that maybe set milestones every sort of 1 to 2 weeks or maybe even quicker if it's a short project. Um And by doing this, I feel like it kind of creates um a sense of something to work towards and it helps you not fall behind. Um And there, I sort of an example where I've kind of seen this in action. Um when I used to work on a client um working in the uh consultancy industry, um I was working in a team of about four or five of us and how the team sort of worked was they'd be obviously the partner of the top who would, who would not have much um, overview of the project, but she'd be like, obviously overlooking. Um, and then having a dedicated senior manager and manager who would kind of run the project, make sure everything's going all right. Um, hand it down towards the juniors and then juniors would do the bulk of the work um whilst also getting training above and they can also delegate work below them to try and train someone else. So it kind of be a great sort of training mechanism as well. Um And everyone kind of gets a little, get to get to speak there and there's sort of varying aspects you can talk to clients, which I did or you can just sit back and you can just make notes on the client call. It's entirely up to you, which I think a great work. Great.
