Speaker: Spencer
What is your name and what is your role?
Spencer: Hi, my name's Spencer and I head up the marketing and business development division at FLM.
What do you do on a day to day basis?
Spencer: What do I do on a day to day basis? I think the main thing that I probably do is, is hold people accountable to the advisors own marketing plan and strategies of what they've come up with. The other thing is making sure that they have enough support, the advisors in terms of different initiatives if they don't really tend to be good marketers. So I suppose that's, that's, that's the main thing that I do with my team is coming up with um, new ideas, new ways of looking at stuff in terms of different avenues, which they haven't really done before and just providing them a resource to, to support them as much as, as much as possible from a marketing and BD function which, um, being a new department for this year, I think has gone pretty well.
What do you love most about your role?
Spencer: I would say the biggest thing that I probably love about this job is sitting down with the advisors, um, who have been a, been a bit lost in their own marketing plans or strategy and come up with an idea or off the bat, they've won some really, really big cases or just, just got some new clients on board, which they've never done before. And that could be just some really simple things of, um, their existing clients of spending a day calling them and asking for referrals or taking them out to, to events and those sorts of things that, that's probably the number one thing that I've, I really, really enjoy about this job.
What has been your pathway to this role?
Spencer: My pathway is a little bit different to most. I um I already had a relationship with some of the growth board prior to coming on at FLM. So I have a small business which is a sports marketing agency and I was already working with some of the advisors trying to grow their money coaches brand, which it falls under kind of the sports and entertainment niche division that they, they have at FLM. I basically came on for a couple of months, spending two days a week consulting and trying to support where I can in, in growing that side of the business based on my contacts and relationships within sport. After three months of doing that, I then got the opportunity to present to Stoney, Sal and Mike the opportunity to maybe run the or create the marketing and business development division at FLM. And uh yeah, 14 months later here I am growing that, that, that division with um, a team underneath me.
Tell us 1 lie and 1 truth
Spencer: One lie and one truth. So, my lie is that I've run two marathons in a year and a truth is that I have met Princess Diana.
which one was the lie?
Spencer: My lie is running two marathons in a year. I could let alone run for a bus, let alone run two marathons.
Who do you want to hear from next month?
Spencer: I would love to hear from Mr James Fenners.
