Speaker: Adrian Bouch
What is your name (if you are happy to share) and who is your FLM Adviser?
Adrian Bouch: My name is Adrian Bouch. My advisor is Ed Forsyth of FLM, uh part of the Saint James's based group. I have been working with them for nearly 10 years now and I have absolute faith in their financial advice. Um The fundamental reason I like working in ST James's place is they're an FTSE 100 company. So they are uh substantial, they um have financial security, they spread risk. They're not, we're not investing our money into um Saint James's place itself. So, uh that's important to me. FLM is a large player within the ST James's based group. I find that uh essential uh to have the backup, the support, the it systems training, et cetera for their advisors. Um So not reliant on any one individual. Uh I'm not normally a big fan of large companies. Um I find them bureaucratic in my business life. I was always, I always preferred working with smaller companies working in a smaller company, but in this instance, I um much prefer a larger company because um they're looking after my financial assets. So, um that should mean that they're safer. Uh I previously worked with three small financial advisors uh none of whom I had any faith in at all. Um I went to them at the time because I was recommended to them and none of them came up to scratch. Uh This is a complete contrast and uh therefore I would advocate working with um Ed FLM or ST James's Place. Um Any further comments or editing you'd like. Uh let me know. Cheers.
Can you tell us a little bit about your journey with FLM and your adviser?
Adrian Bouch: My journey with Ed Forsyth FLM and ST James's Place started uh about 10 years ago, uh through a friend of a friend, um Dave Allard, uh, Ed introduced me to Dave. Um And uh he particularly inspired a lot of confidence in me at the time. He was a very confident guy himself. Uh He was very knowledgeable, um very positive and had a big business, a growing business. And um he then prepared in particular one occasion when I met him, I was thinking about retirement. He prepared a very comprehensive report and gave me two hours of his time with Ed Forsyth and Dave and I sat down and went through everything and it was absolutely clear. They knew what they were talking about. I took his advice and haven't regretted the moment of it.
How has your adviser added value to your life?
Adrian Bouch: How has my advisor added value to my life? Well, that's an interesting question. Um, it certainly added value to my financial portfolio which in turn has, um, given me the financial security I was looking for. Therefore, I feel comforted. Um, Ed is a personal friend. Uh, Dave Vard was a great character when he set FLM up. Uh, well, when I met him having set Flm up, uh, he was a great guy. Good fun to be with. Um, as is Ed. So, uh, all good. Really?
Why do you choose to work with FLM and your adviser over other Financial Planning companies?
Adrian Bouch: There are several reasons I like working with LM and Ed in particular. Firstly, they're part of ST changes based group. This is a um FTSE 100 group uh company and as such, they provide good advice, well, well researched and um my investment risk is therefore spread in accordance with my risk profile, but the investment portfolio is spread. Um FLM is a large player within S JP. Um They've got the backup, the support, the training um and uh you're not dependent upon one individual good it systems user friendly, which is most important. Um Historically, I'm not a fan of big companies. Um The reason I go to FLM is at ST James's place in particular is because they are a big company and my business life, I did not like big companies. I worked for a small company and uh it was infinitely preferable to do so. But when it comes to uh investment, I think it's important that the risk is spread through a big company. Um I have used three different financial advisors in the past, none of whom have given me any confidence. And uh this is a very different situation now at my portfolio and is, and has been managed for the last um probably 10 years uh by uh Ed Forsyth FLM and S JP.
Is there anything else you can share about your experience of working with your Adviser and the wider FLM team?
Adrian Bouch: Fundamentally working with LM, initially with Dave Allard and now with Ed is good fun. That is important when any transaction taking place, you got to have confidence in the people you're working with, but you've also got to enjoy it and that, that works well for me. Um The only concerns I have, uh, relate to Saint James's Place Group itself. Uh and the adverse publicity it receives S JP itself doesn't concern me but the adverse publicity does and there doesn't seem to be any mitigation by S JP in the press that may be because they're not publicizing it. And I don't actually receive any correspondence regarding this um, adverse publicity from S JP. I think it would be helpful as a client to receive comments on what's written in the press and say that even if it's just that, you know, performance is as good as any other. Um uh despite the fees uh dependent on risk profile, you know, it's a sort of simple way of, of, of justifying um uh the, the, the cost of investing through S JP. But anyway, um very happy to discuss that further. If you would like
