Speaker: James Copeland, Director Of Classroom Technology at Middle Tennessee State University
James Copeland: Extron is simply better on my budget due to their longer life cycles and less stress on me and my staff due to the ease of supporting their hardware.
What were the primary goals for this AV system installation, and how did Extron technologies and services help achieve them?
James Copeland: We're just opening our new applied engineering building. One of the more complex systems is in our computer-aided design computer lab. Everything is running at a 4K resolution, utilizing Extron's new DTP3 CrossPoint matrix. The video for every computer in this lab can be routed to the main screen on the wall. We had a big need for inputs with this new matrix, and we were able to configure it to have the exact number of inputs we needed. I love how I can have a small classroom or a big auditorium and still utilize the same line of Extron products.
What stood out about the service, support, or overall project delivery?
James Copeland: Extron is well known in the AV industry for having a superior technical support. I often tell people that I learned how to do my job over the phone with Extron's technical support. Extron is simply better on my budget due to their longer life cycles and less stress on me and my staff due to the ease of supporting their hardware. Standardizing on equipment is very important to me. Having the same set up for faculty and staff cuts down on the need for training on how to use the technology. It also cuts down on the time it takes to diagnose an issue because my staff have been trained on this product and I'm very familiar with it. Since the opening of this new building, we have had zero issues with the technology and has worked like we expected. Because of these reasons and more, I'm designing every system with Extron. They just make my job easier.
