Speaker: Mary Grace Ido Tumanda
Please introduce yourself in a couple of sentences.
Mary Grace Ido Tumanda: Hi there, my name is Mary Grace, but I prefer to be called Meg. I have over 16 years of corporate experience dealing mainly with customer service in banking. The first five years was with print telecom as a customer service specialist. And the next 11 years was with JP Morgan Chase across four lines of businesses, namely collections, fraud claims and the last one which was claims and disputes back office investigations.
What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Mary Grace Ido Tumanda: My biggest strengths would be tenacity and adaptability. I am tenacious in a way that if I were given a task, I make sure to study it, learn it and apply those learnings until I get things right. As far as adaptability goes in this life, things never go exactly as planned. There will always be plenty of changes. So what I do is I take it in stride and think of it as a way for me to continuously learn and I still get things done. Nonetheless. As far as my weakness goes, I would think it's the human tendency to become bored of doing things repetitively is the reason why I have transferred across four lines of businesses in my 11 years as JP Morgan Chase. So I think it is natural for us humans to want to do something more, to want to learn something new along the way.
What is the professional achievement you’re most proud of?
Mary Grace Ido Tumanda: I'm most proud of the fact that even though I did not apply for a leadership position, my colleagues always looked up to me as a source of motivation and moral support. I'm always the one who tells them that we can do this and uh push them to make sure that they're able to meet or exceed their goals.
What are the most important things you are looking for in your next role?
Mary Grace Ido Tumanda: There are three main things that I look forward to in my new role. The first one is continuous learning followed closely by professional growth. As a new company, I know that there will be a lot of opportunities open for me within the next few months or years. And I want to use this time between now and then to learn everything that I can about the process and be efficient in what I do now. The third one, this is most common for remote workers really is to strike a balance between work and life. And I know it's so much easier now that I will be working full time at home.
Why are you the right fit to succeed in this role?
Mary Grace Ido Tumanda: Apart from the fact that I already have sufficient experience in customer service, banking and credit cards, I have a tenacious spirit, which means that whatever I set my mind into doing, I learn it, I study it and stick with it until I can get it right. Also, I am a believer of continuous improvement and continuous learning. So that means that I'm quite receptive to feedback and coaching. The third one, which I think is very important is I have a positive outlook in life. I believe that a little positivity goes a long way. And uh there is this saying that goes whether you think you can or you can't, you're right. And in my case, I know I can.
