Do you have a teacher who inspired you for the better? Tell us how!

Virginia Hall: I can say at different points in my life, I've had very influential teachers and educators. In elementary school, a retired teacher named Miss Muncy was substituting for my third grade class. I was struggling with subtraction. She spent 1-1 time with me until I understood how to subtract. But also what subtraction really meant. Jump ahead to high school, Miss Adams was the advanced English teacher. She made class interesting and taught at a collegiate level. This exposed me for the first time to the possibility of college. I can also say she was extremely beneficial in my college classes. In college. Doctor Ziegler was the most amazing chemistry teacher and mentor. He was always there for his students and was a brilliant man. Chemistry was a live topic with him and my degree field was never in doubt with him as my mentor. When I decided to go into education, I was in Miami and all new teachers were required to go to new teacher training sessions. Mrs Billy Bernie was our trainer. She was amazing. Everything she taught me that first year shaped how I saw my job as an educator and how I teach in my classroom later, while teaching, I had a principal, Mr Reed that once again made me take a look at my students in a very different way. He was an approachable leader and a man I highly respect. He also had an effect on how I saw my job as a teacher and how I teach in my classroom. Will there be others? Possibly? I am in my 30th year of education and I'm still growing in my craft. I look at each interaction with educators as an opportunity to grow and learn and to take something beneficial away from the interaction. My name is Virginia Hall. Thank you.
