What brought you to Ethan Health?
Um I had reached the lowest point I believe in my life. Uh Rock bottom was an understatement. Um I'll be 45.
was 44 and I couldn't live this life any longer, that life any longer. And um, I had heard through people in jail about Ethan health and it was close to home and I realized that it was time to make that change. And I decided that for the remainder of my life, I didn't wanna be an addict and I wanted to fulfill the dreams that I had once in my life. And I, I was hoping that the health would give me that opportunity. And sure enough they have.
Could you describe your experience at Ethan Health?
Um I came in, I was nervous, anxious, didn't know what to expect cause it was my first time in treatment. First time I've ever reached out to get any help. Um So I didn't know what to expect. Um I came in and it was wonderful. Um The peer support were great from the get go. Um I never like never once felt like, uh I didn't have anybody to talk to. Um, the other guys in the, in the treatment center with me were fantastic. I made friends that I actually hadn't had in many, many years. Um I woke up one morning a couple of weeks into being at the center and I looked in the mirror and it was the first time I've seen that person in, since I, in 25 years, I was 19, the last time when I first started doing drugs dope. And uh it's been 25 years since I've seen that clear eyed, clearheaded person. He was a 44 year old man. But um it was good to see that and I couldn't have got that without, you know, Ethan Health
How has your life changed since beginning your recovery journey at Ethan Health?
Um Well, I've got a good job now. Uh I've got ambitions. Um when I was 19, I was in college and that was a century ago, so to speak. And I'm back in college. Um, the goals that I wanted at one time in my life and I thought they were just gonna be right around the corner, um or just an hour around the corner, uh 25 years later and I can't, I can't be happier and it's like every bit of it is due to Ethan Health Truly.
What are your hopes for the future?
Um, well, with the tools that I've gotten from Ethan health and my determination and my sobriety. Um, I wanna, uh, now that I'm back in school, I wanna be able to help people that are like me, I come from a small town that's a little different and thinks that there's nobody out there that's like them. I want to be able to help that person and let them know that they're not alone and see if, you know, let them in the direction that, that things will get better, can get better and they will get better if they, if they want it. And, um, I want it and I want to show others that they can get it too and it's given me a purpose and goals and, um, I'm excited that they get to do it and I'm ready to start.
