Speakers: Antonio Ciacciarelli, MD, Sapienza University of Rome

Antonio Ciacciarelli: Hi, everyone. I am Antonio Ciaccarelli, a neurologist and proud sustainability ambassador for the European Stroke Organisation. It's an honor to share how our organisation is committed to being part of the solution to the environmental challenges we face. As you know, conferences bring together thousands of people worldwide. And the European Stroke Organisation Conference is no exception. However, with that comes an inevitable environmental impact, including high energy consumption, waste production, increased traffic. That's why ESO takes sustainability seriously. We understand the critical role we play in reducing our carbon footprint and preserving the environment for generations to come. And we have already taken significant steps to achieving our sustainability goals. We have established a sustainability mission programme and donated EUR 25,000 to reserve the national rainforest of Kibale in Uganda, among other donations. We have also dedicated a teaching course to sustainability in stroke health care. You can participate in during the congress discussing the environmental risk factors and how stroke services can reduce their carbon footprint also using digital technologies. But we cannot achieve these goals alone. We need your help as well. We encourage you to support the sustainability goals by traveling by train whenever possible, using public transportation during your stay in Munich and bringing your reusable water bottle for refills. Most importantly, we invite you to become an ESO sustainability ambassador and join us in spreading the word about our mission. Together, we can make a real difference in the world. We welcome your feedback and suggestions. So please do not hesitate to reach out to the sustainability ambassadors Dr Jelle Demeestere or myself through the ESO website. Thank you for your time and let's all
