Speaker: Erika Jones, South Bend Community School Corporation
Please introduce yourself - what is your name, location, and occupation?
Erika Jones: My name is Erica Jones and I'm from South Bend Indiana and I work for our public schools as a district, family and community school specialist. One thing that got me excited about the kid pre certification program were all of the many resources that are available to the certified educators.
Could you share a few details about your overall experience with the program so far?
Erika Jones: So my overall experience with the program has been nothing but positive, the customer support and the response time has been very professional. It's been very timely. Um Initially, when I got on board with nos, I purchased the book and then I purchased the online academy for my grandson. Um And after doing that, I realized that this would be a great tool to use with our summer camp and our after school program. And so after um going through that program for a couple years, uh two years, I realized that hey, we're on to something I received an email one day about the certification program went on and I enrolled and then uh the light bulb went on and I realized I could actually turn this into my own personal business and model for students. What it actually means to be an entrepreneur.
What are some of the key benefits or features of our Kidpreneurs Certified Educators program that you found most valuable?
Erika Jones: So some of the key benefits or features of the Rene Certified Educators Program that I find most useful or valuable are located at the Educators Central platform. And that's simply something that reminds me of Facebook and Instagram. Uh It's a social network of people or individuals with like minds who are all uh desiring to start their own business or teach students the the concept of being a entrepreneur. So you get a chance to interact with those people on that platform, but there's also a resource library, there's tech talk, there's, that's where you also find the actual course for the certification. Uh The thing that I really like or the thing that I feel that has been most useful has been some of the um resources that the Kriner team has provided for us as we launch our businesses. So that includes some of the letters uh ideas for starting the business. I also like that we're able to converse back and forth that during some of those virtual trainings. So that's an added bonus.
What advice would you give to parents, educators or entrepreneurs who are interested in becoming a Certified Educator?
Erika Jones: So if you are a parent and educator or an entrepreneur who's interested in becoming a certified educator, I highly recommend that you do. So, one of the reasons why I signed up was because after looking at all of the resources and going through the course, I realized that this information and that the curriculum was sustainable and that it would be the perfect tool that I needed to help students lay a foundation for or for with that. Um If I had to summarize my experience in a few sentences, I'd have to say that I is, it was, has been a joy to watch students uh evolve through this process. Um I've also had the opportunity to learn more about who I am and what I have to offer and, and also be able to show students how to navigate their way through the curriculum or the academy uh to, to create a foundation for them that they will be able to use for a lifetime.
How does it feel to be a Kidpreneurs Certified Educator?
Erika Jones: So it really feels good to be a kid, Preneurs Certified Educator. I am so excited about all the possibilities that lie uh ahead of me. I have gone through the certification twice. Uh The first time I did not have access to the Educator Central. And so I thought it was important that I go through it the second time so that I could pick up on some of the things that I may have missed. And so with that, uh that's a plus because I get a chance to again learn from uh the people who are coming alongside of me through this journey, as well as exchange information about some of the things that are happening on my end of the world. Um not only um are we continuing our efforts within our schools, but we're also e I'll have the opportunity to engage with the greater community. So I'm excited.
