Speaker: Santi Darmandrail, COO, Retargetly
What is one piece of advice you’d give for more purposeful working -- or something you’ve implemented for better meeting efficiency?
Santi Darmandrail: The one thing that I would say uh is the most important is to make sure that every meeting you have has a purpose. So, you know, it can be actually getting to know someone that's fine, but um it has to have a purpose and hopefully that purpose should be shared. So if you go into a meeting state out what your intention is, one thing we do with our team is we start, for example, group meetings by setting expectations. So we go around the table and we say this is what I expect to get from this meeting. It can be, you know, I want to get an update and I want to communicate something that's important. But whatever it is, it should be clear for everyone, what the expectations for the meeting is, what you hope to get from it and what you hope others will get from it as well.
What would YOU do with extra time back in your day?
Santi Darmandrail: I'm lucky enough that I can, you know, set out time every once in a while uh to actually think about the business. Um So there's something I love, which is called working in the business as opposed to working on the business. Um You know, when you have some extra time, you can actually work on the business and think about what are the key levers that you can uh implement to actually change things, to make things more efficient, to reorganize things that need to get reorganized or just maybe, you know, stop doing something that's just not working. Um So, you know, when you have some time to work, I think what I would do is uh basically use that time to think. Um I would in my line of work or at least thinking is kind of the most important thing that I need to do, making decisions um day to day. And I think whatever your role is, that's kind of, you know, what you're here for, uh which is adding value beyond your current task. Um thinking and rethinking all the time.
