Speaker: Kate Sirkin, EVP, Global Data Partnerships
What is one piece of advice you’d give for more purposeful working -- or something you’ve implemented for better meeting efficiency?
Kate Sirkin: My advice around more purposeful meetings is that from a meeting owner perspective, is to really think about who should attend and why and then have them be accountable for that. What's the single unique piece of value that they alone bring to the meeting? Is it as a decision maker? Is it as an SME (subject matter expert) who has a unique perspective or is it as somebody who's going to take accountability for some actions to do afterwards. And for attendees, what's the single unique perspective that you can bring to a meeting? Is it your point of view, your recommendation, your commitment to follow up with some action afterwards? I think many people attend meetings just because of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), if that's the case, then set the meeting to record and transcribe it or have somebody take high quality notes and read them after. It's much quicker that way.
What would YOU do with extra time back in your day?
Kate Sirkin: If I had more time back from less frequent or shorter meetings, I'd take more time to solve other problems, meet new partners who might have solutions and chase new opportunities or simply go outside and think on a great sunny day, like today. It's often we get our best ideas when we've got time to think and it doesn't need to always be in the shower.
