Speaker: Emily Bell, Director

Tell us about you!

Emily Bell: Hi, my name is Emily Bell. I'm the Director of Transitions Adoption Agency in Pennsylvania. We work all throughout the state of Pennsylvania and I am not only an adoption professional, but I am also an adoptive mom through domestic adoption two times. I've been working in adoption since 2008 and I'd love the opportunity to work with you and your family.

Why do you work in adoption?

Emily Bell: I actually started working in adoption long before I ever adopted myself. But I love working with adoptive families because I get to empower people. I get to empower people to make educated decisions. I get to empower them to find hope and I get to empower them to be prepared to be wonderful adaptive families.

What's one piece of advice you have for families starting the adoption journey?

Emily Bell: My best piece of advice for you in the adoption process is to be as flexible as possible. And I know that it is so hard, um as an adoptive mom myself, it's just so hard, right? But being flexible and realizing that there's so much out of your control will help you have a much better positive experience and it's going to bless the people around you.

What's one thing people don't know about you?

Emily Bell: One thing that you probably don't know about me is that I am becoming a trauma informed certified clinician, which means that I have gone through the courses and taking the training to learn more about how trauma affects the brain and how we can help both birth families and children that are born from traumatic situations, heal and it is also beneficial in the lives of adoptive families. So I'm happy to share that with you.
