Speaker: Stu Peterson, Vice Principal
Introduction: tell us your name and job role
Stu Peterson: Hi, my name is Stu Peterson. I'm a vice principal here at Emmett High School in Emmett, ID.
What were you doing before E3, and what's changed since?
Stu Peterson: In the past, some of our processes would have been maybe for a lockdown, for example, a teacher would call down to the main office, then the main office would have to put the school in the lockdown over the PA system. It was slow, it wasn't immediate. Sometimes teachers in their classroom were unable to hear the announcement or hear it clearly. And so we're just super thankful that we do have something like E3 where teachers we've already had. I mean, I would say up to 20 different uses, usages of E3 this school year alone. just where teachers have initiated whatever, you know, whether it was a lockdown, whether it was a hall check, due to a medical situation just for the safety of our students and whatnot. We've been able to use, utilize the application that's been super successful here at high school. It's made our job a lot easier and it's made our staff feel a lot safer.
What do you like most about E3 and why?
Stu Peterson: So what I love about E3, There's multiple things I love that it's easy and accessible. It's on your phone, it's immediate, it can be on your desktop as well. And so that's great for our classroom teachers in our office staff, I also love the fact that it has the chat capability. So the chat helps us to inform one another when there is in the incident if a teacher is off campus. And that's another plus they can use the maps and they can tell us their whereabouts. by saying whether there's safe or unsafe on the map, but they can also chat. teachers can chat the whereabouts of students. So we don't assume they're missing,
Stu Peterson: And then the other thing I love it for on the administrative side of things is the reporting capability. Obviously, we have to have our reports. They help us make big decisions when we move forward.
How was the training/onboarding experience?
Stu Peterson: So as far as the E3 on boarding and training, it couldn't be easier.
Stu Peterson: Everybody is very helpful, the responses were immediate and then our staff just within the very first time of having that training was able to use it on their desktop, use it on their phones and we're all really pleased with that process.
Have you used E3 in a real situation? If so, would you mind sharing a brief summary.
Stu Peterson: actually had, I would say that 20 different occurrences just this school year alone. And we're just now heading into ordinary winter break and we've used it, we've had a lot of medical issues.
Stu Peterson: And it also is so effective because the response time from the administrative side of things, I can tell you like once a teacher hits that button, you know, and uses the E3 application that where we are there within seconds, it's not the old process of sending a student down or making a phone call to the office. It's quick, easy, no matter where we're at, we respond to it. So we've used it a lot this year and we're thankful for.
