Speaker: Craig Crawford, Superintendent
Introduction: tell us your name and job role
Craig Crawford: Hi, I'm Craig Crawford. I'm superintendent of schools for Stanford Montana school district in Stanford Montana.
What were you doing before E3, and what's changed since?
Craig Crawford: Before we got the E3 software and system put in place for our school, our drills consisted of us pulling a fire alarm and having kids leave the building or just making an announcement that we're going to be having a drill at a certain time of day to go through the motions with this. It adds a little bit more of a real life scenario to it. And lets us really test out the software to help us improve, not only the quality, but the purpose of our drills that we run.
What do you like most about E3 and why?
Craig Crawford: E3 has been a plus for us and that it helps keep us on track with drills. it actually helped us a couple of weeks ago when we had, an alarm go off because a sensor was hit in the gymnasium. And so nobody really knew what have been the cause of it. Once we knew we were able to use E3 while everyone was outside on a cold Montana day and get the word out to everybody that it was a false alarm but allowed us to go through the drill and also test out the software. It lets us keep track of when we've had the drills, which may not seem like a big deal, but when you get down to the end of the year and you're looking at trying to do your paperwork on how many drills you've had. It's nice to have that all in one place and it lets us work through the system and make sure that we're having the right drills that we need to have and, and also enhance and increase our communication during a drill or what would hopefully never be. But a real emergency.
How was the training/onboarding experience?
Craig Crawford: E3 staff was great. All the way through uh from helping making maps to doing the trainings with us. They really helped make it a smoother transition for my staff. Anytime a school building and staff are looking at taking on a new initiative or a new anything, there's always push back. They really help minimize that by making it as simple as possible. Let me preview a lot of things and work through what might have been some bumps in the road before we even got to them and they've been continuously working with us since then. I can't recommend them enough just from a customer service standpoint. They've been very responsive to everything we've needed and have made it really a worthwhile um implementation for us.
Have you used E3 in a real situation? If so, would you mind sharing a brief summary.
Craig Crawford: We have used E3 in a couple of different real situations.
Craig Crawford: We had a false alarm go off for our fire system from where sensor was hitting the gymnasium and it sent everybody outside. Uh, and I was able to alert the local authorities that are integrated into our E3 system as well as my staff that it was a false alarm. because I was in the middle of the hallway talking to kids when it went off and they first looked at me and I said, I don't know why that would go off. So I think it's a real thing and it was a cold Montana day. So it helped us get back inside in a hurry.
