Speaker: Paul Ferneyhough, SVP, Chief Growth & Integration Officer, Eldorado Gold

How can we, as leaders, role model being an active learners at Eldorado?

Paul Ferneyhough: As leaders were often looked to as the people that have all the answers, the people that have experienced whatever we, as a business are going through, we've experienced it before and often that's the case and experience is something that can be relied on to help with solving problems with understanding the right direction to go in. But it isn't everything for me, as many of you will know, I came to Eldorado and to the gold industry just over 12 months ago, from from a totally different natural resources industry and it's been a real pleasure to get to know a different business, to get to know a different industry or at least to start to get to know our business and our industry. That doesn't mean that my experience is worth any less. It doesn't mean that as a leader, I'm not able to provide insight and support, but it does mean that I've got a fantastic opportunity to add to those things that I've experienced in my career so far and build on the learnings that I've taken from the things that I've done over the last 25, 30 years and that's a really fantastic opportunity. And as leaders, we should constantly look to role model, the idea that learning actively learning from our day to day roles is something that builds on what has gone before, that builds on our experience. And yes, we can be looked towards to provide guidance to provide answers, but that is a combination of what we've learned, what we've experienced, but also what we continue to learn in our day to day roles as we're, as we're exposed to things that are new to us. And I encourage all of us to embrace those opportunities to learn and to build on our experience, because that will make us a more effective leader and and allows us to adapt to situations as they develop in our business.
