Speaker: Tim Smith, CEO

When and why did you join EIMS?

Tim Smith: So I joined EIMS 20 years ago. To be honest, the reason I joined it was for a summer job, probably didn't see it as a proper job so to speak. But I remember the moment that actually changed. I was sitting in a company meeting, our founder was giving a presentation as to his vision for the organization, how we were going to go about that market opportunity. But most importantly to me, the core values that were going to be important and were going to guide us along the way. And that's probably the reason that's kept me here so long. We still run the business to those core values today. You know, things like team work with all the fantastic people that work inside the organization, delivering value for money for our clients so that when they choose to spend money with us, we really do deliver a return, and acting with integrity in the marketplace. That's the thing that kept me at the business initially. And it's the thing that still keeps me here today.

What is your role and what do you love about it?

Tim Smith: So my role for EIMS is I am the CEO although it hasn't always been that way I actually started life as a business development representative. And since then I've done most roles inside the business. What I love about my role it's hard to pin that down to a handful of things. But if I try and pick my top three I would say diversity of people. I get to work with brilliant people across the organization, from all different backgrounds and skills. And you know that for me this is something I learn from everyday. Diversity of clients. Again, we have some brilliant clients that are operating right across the technology spectrum. And that exposure that we get from working with so many different clients is another part of the role that I love. And then thirdly, the opportunity to solve difficult problems for our customers. And you know that's what keeps it interesting for a lot of us and the opportunity to make sure that you know when a client chooses to work with us that we do our best for them and we deliver return on their spend. I love the challenge of that.

What are you most proud of?

Tim Smith: So what I'm most proud of is actually the number of people that have built successful careers either inside EIMS Or gone on to work for our clients and often gone on to be clients in their own right. And I think that number is now in its in its thousands and I think it's fantastic validation of the talent that we have inside the organization. But also the training and development, and opportunities that we afford people that work here.

What stands out to you about the culture at EIMS?

Tim Smith: So this one is easy to answer. I think it's that we genuinely care about what we do for our clients. That sounds like a cliche and in many, many businesses it would be a cliche, but I don't think it is in ours. If I look at the one trait that everyone really has running through the organization, it's the special attention, care, and an extra effort that we go to, to make sure that what we deliver is really a quality product for our clients. And I think that's something as we grow and as we scale as an organization, we've got to fight really hard to, to protect and hopefully that's something in five years time we'll be able to say has become an even stronger trait within our organization.
