What key insights will you be sharing in your session and why is this important?

Øivind Torkildsen: My name is Øivind Torkildsen. I'm a Professor of Neurology and consultant neurologist at the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital. I will give a talk on the fact of fish oil and fish oil consumption on the risk of developing MS and also on disease activity in MS. So I will go through the evidence for their efficacy and give recommendations based on this. Then the importance of this is because many of our patients are using different supplements and especially supplements with omega three fatty acids. And we have performed both clinical and preclinical studies on this. And I will present the results from our trial on omega three fatty acids and multiple sclerosis and also give evidence of the efficacy. And in the end, we will give some recommendations for what we should recommend to our patients, and an evaluation of the evidence.

Why is ECTRIMS 2024 a must-attend event for the MS and neurological research community?

Øivind Torkildsen: ECTRIMS is a very important platform to meet researchers from different disciplines. It's also the largest congress in the world on MS research, and it's also often heard that new discoveries are presented first.
