Sue : Hi I'm Sue Roddy from New York.
Can we see some of your Draw Awesome artwork that you're most pleased with?
Sue : I'd like to share with you some of my artwork that I've done at Draw Awesome so far. This is a graphite pencil drawing of a person, which I've never been able to do. And then this is charcoal - - a rhino - which I think actually looks like a rhino. And this was a charcoal landscape that I'm very proud of. I really liked how the sky came out. And this is a bear that I drew for one of our exercises before doing the next drawing. And then these eyes. I am so proud of these eyes! I've always had a very difficult time just to do them the way... ...I don't know, like a cartoony type, but these are some of my drawings I'm very proud of since I've since I've been in Draw Awesome.
Before starting Draw Awesome, what was your level of art experience and what did you struggle with?
Sue : Before starting Draw Awesome... ...my level of art, I would say, is just like a hobbyist. Not really good at any one thing, just kind of watch Youtube videos and try different experiments with pencil. Mostly I've done ink and a little bit of watercolour, but I think what I struggle the most with is how to approach a drawing and also the fundamentals that I know you have to get down before your art will really come alive.
So what are some of the things you like most about Draw Awesome and would you recommend it to others?
Sue : I would recommend Draw Awesome to any artist. Even if they are kind of a medium type artist, Phil gives us great lessons, step by step instruction. But they are some of the most difficult subject matter that I would never have touched before and my confidence is so much better now that I know that these things that I thought were impossible, are possible, like the foreshortening and the eyes. Things like that, that I couldn't see myself doing. So I really like the challenges that that Phil gives us and the instruction is phenomenal!
