Michelle : Hello, I'm Michelle Saint-Germaine and I live in Carlsbad, California, near San Diego.

Can you show us some of your Draw Awesome artwork that you're most pleased with?

Michelle : Here's one of my first pen and ink drawings - a series of drawings - and I'm very happy with it and I was confident enough to move on there to what I consider to be my masterpiece so far. I'm not a detail person. I have no patience and yet I was able to finish this magnificent lizard following the great teaching instructions of Phil, with Draw Awesome.

Before starting Draw Awesome, what was your level of art experience and what did you struggle with?

Michelle : Before Draw Awesome, I was working in academia. I had absolutely no art experience and I was convinced that I was incapable of drawing anything. And I had a couple of drawing classes, but without any success. And this has really changed my whole drawing ability!

How do you think Draw Awesome has helped you?

Michelle : Draw Awesome has opened my eyes to all the different types of media that are out there and how to be successful at drawing with each of them. People have commented on how much my drawing has improved and I look forward to new projects now. I also have been able to venture outside and draw, with Phil's encouragement, to do urban sketching, which was totally a mystery to me before. But now I'm happy to venture out into my local neighbourhood and start sketching.

Finally, what are some of the things you like most about Draw Awesome?

Michelle : One of the things I like most about Draw Awesome is that it's more than drawing. It's a whole new way of seeing and seeing as an artist. Seeing as someone who can draw and who can make decisions about representing what they see. I think that Draw Awesome is so much more than just drawing... it encompasses so many media and so many different aspects of art. It's really incredibly rewarding!
