Speaker: Dawn , UK
Dawn : Hi, my name is Dawn Castle and I live in Grimsby, which is in North East Lincolnshire, England.
Can you show us some of your Draw Awesome artwork that you're most pleased with?
Dawn : I can't tell you my favourite drawing because I'm in awe of all the things that I've done on this course so far. I can't believe from starting it just a few weeks ago that I've come so far. This is possibly my favourite so far - my elephant. I've always loved elephants, but to be able to have drawn that after such a few sessions with Phil... It's just... ...it's staggering, to be honest.
Before starting Draw Awesome, what art techniques did you struggle with?
Dawn : Before I started with Draw Awesome, I wasn't very confident with any aspect of my drawing. In fact, my drawing was the worst. I could do a bit of painting, but the actual drawing was the big problem for me.
In what way do you think Draw Awesome has helped you ?
Dawn : I was a bit nervous when I first started, because there seemed to be so many people really good on the site. But as I followed the instructions things started to appear on my paper that I never believed I was capable of doing. I started posting my own things and getting little comments and little 'upticks' and you know what, I can't wait for the next bit of my course and look forward to drawing every day now.
So, would you recommend Draw Awesome to others?
Dawn : I would recommend this course to anybody. It has given me so much confidence being able to share my work with other people that are following at the same time, being given tips by them. Being able to have the confidence to put my work out there too on this particular site is just... ...well, it's mind-blowing. It's changed the whole of my retirement because I've retired in the last year and it's given me a purpose.
Phil is just is so clever and he's so clever at teaching. And it's all right being able to be a good artist. But if you can teach other people to be good artists and to find their inner artist, I think it's blown me away!
