Patrice : Hi, I'm Patrice and I'm from Central Pennsylvania in the United States.
Can you show us some of your Draw Awesome artwork that you're most pleased with?
Patrice : I've had a number of pieces that I'm really, really... that I've really enjoyed. And I think turned out really quite well. I'll show you a couple of them. We did a pastel of an avocado, which I really liked. And I did a pen and wash with a car. And if you asked me if I ever enjoyed drawing a car... ...I would say absolutely not! But it turned out fabulous. And it's really, really a nice painting, I think. And then we did this picture of this guy, which I loved doing. And again, it turned out really, really well. The latest thing is a coloured pencil of a bird, which I'm still working on a little bit. And I think it's turned out really well. I take my drawings to my art gatherings and people are very impressed with it and they're asking me all about the class I'm taking and I'm very enthusiastic about recommending this class to anybody who's interested in improving their art skills. It's really been very helpful and Phil is a great teacher!
Before starting Draw Awesome, what was your level of art experience and what did you struggle with?
Patrice : Many years ago - - many, many years ago... I was a costume-design major in college and decided to pursue another interest and actually have not done any art until I retired and I saw a local watercolour class and decided to take that and took another one. And I have been meeting with a few friends once a week to work on watercolour. That's about my limited art experience.
How do you think Draw Awesome has helped you?
Patrice : Having taken a watercolour class, I realized that drawing would be really helpful and saw this opportunity and signed up for it and have been absolutely thrilled by the Class. I've had exposure to a lot more than just drawing with pencil, which is what I thought I would be doing. And we've done ink and we've done pastel and charcoal and we've done wash and ink and now coloured pencil. And it's been very enjoyable! I've really, really liked learning all the different areas that we've studied and certainly I'm getting more confident in my drawing ability as well as my colour choices and blending and it's been an incredibly positive experience.
Finally, what are some of the things you like most about Draw Awesome and would you recommend it to others?
Patrice : There are a number of things that I really enjoy about Draw Awesome. The first thing is that it is a Class that you can access any time of day or night, which I find extremely helpful in fitting into a kind of busy schedule and I love the detail that Phil does, he takes you step by step by step with colour choices, drawing the medium that you're working on, very, very detailed. And very, very helpful in terms of learning techniques and improving skills. I highly recommend this class to my friends and I think I have a few friends that will be signing up for it. It's just been a really, really wonderful experience and I certainly would recommend it to you if you're interested in improving your skills in drawing and working in a number of mediums.
