Melony : Hi, I'm Melanie and I'm from Southern California.
Can you show us some of your Draw Awesome artwork that you're most pleased with?
Melony : Here's one of my charcoal drawings that I've done. I really like being able to get a handle on the placement of the different parts of an animal using the methods that Phil has shown me. It's a lot better than I've ever done! I've traced things before, but this is so much better! I also did this in the pen and ink - or pen and watercolour and I'm really pleased with how this turned out. It's so nice that he shows us how to do these things and then we go off on our own. And this is one of the challenges that he gave us, just to do something that he hadn't shown us before. And then I had the charcoal pencil or pastel pencil hen that we just did. And I've not been able to really utilize the charcoal or the pastel pencils in a way that made things look realistic. And I've just been really pleased with the whole Draw Awesome Course.
Before starting Draw Awesome, what was your level of art experience and what did you struggle with?
Melony : I've been taking adult and art classes, group art classes for probably about five years and I've struggled with technique and understanding how to utilize the media correctly.
How do you think Draw Awesome has helped you?
Melony : I'm so pleased with my progress. After having only worked with Draw Awesome for about three months now, it's so nice to be able to draw along with Phil and have - to be able to stop and start when I want to. I think my skills have increased a lot. My husband says, "Wow, you're really doing a good job!" I enjoy all the projects that he's given to us, and I am looking forward to all the other projects that he's going to come up with.
Finally, what are some of the things you like most about Draw Awesome and would you recommend it to others?
Melony : One of the things I like most about Draw Awesome is that Phil goes through each... ...the first lesson in great detail and gives us a framework from which to get our subject onto our paper and then each succeeding lesson, he weans us away from him. And then by the 4th Lesson of the Month, we are on our own for a challenge. Another thing that I really like about Draw Awesome is the fact that I can start and stop the lesson whenever I want. And if I need to rewind, I can go back and revisit what he has just said, and it makes it so much easier for me. I've learned so much that way. I also like the fact that if I need to stop for a month, I can and I have done that and it works just great. I don't have to pay for that particular month and the next month I'm right back on, so I certainly would recommend Draw Awesome to anybody. I think it helps increase your skills and it's tailored to your schedule. It's just a really wonderful Course and I thank him so much!
