Jim : Hi, my name is Jim. I'm in North Carolina in the USA.
Can you show us some of the pieces that you've done with Draw Awesome?
Jim : This is one of my drawings from the charcoal module. I'll back it up a little bit so you can see it and I'm really into plants. I'm a professional trained botanist, so I really, really enjoy doing doing plants. I've done a lot of photography of plants and so I'm drawing - but again, I'm really enjoying - you know - the renditions I'm able to do with charcoal. I don't often do animals, but I really like this rhino. Again, this is charcoal. This is obviously another one of Draw Awesome projects during the charcoal module. And I think my favourite one so far is the iguana in ink. There's a lot of reflections on that and I don't know what to do about that. It's framed - I've got it hanging on the wall and I'm getting lots of great comments about everybody sees it, likes it. So, this is probably my favourite one so far and it also took the most amount of amount of work.
Before you started Draw Awesome, what did you struggle with?
from USA
Jim : I tried a lot of different types of art. I've been - I've done painting watercolour. I've done quite a bit of printing recently. And I've always... I've never really been happy with my drawing and I think that's really the basis for just about everything else you do in art - at least in visual arts. So that's why I've been struggling with that and that's why I am in the Draw Awesome Course.
How do you think Draw Awesome has helped you?
Jim : I've read lots of books about drawing. I've taken courses at various times that I've never been that happy with the progress I made... With Draw Awesome, I'm making more progress and I think it's maybe four months now that I've been in the course I did and everything else combined. I've improved a lot and a lot of my friends are commenting on how much they like what I've done. I've already given some stuff away. And I'm always looking forward every week - - really for Friday when Phil releases the new course, I'm always looking forward to that. And I'm really, really enjoying this.
So, would you recommend Draw Awesome to others?
Jim : I really can't think of anything I'm not really enjoying about Draw Awesome. There's all sorts of interesting projects, learning new techniques, learning - you know - the proper way... Or at least one of the proper ways of doing things. You know, again I think I'm gonna - one thing I'm going to regret about the Course is when it's done in about nine months. I guess I'll have to be on my own at that point, but I'm - you know - I'll have a lot of the things I need to - - you know - to create a lot of interesting stuff. I mean I'm already doing things that I really wasn't able to do before and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to strengthen their drawing skills and just you know, learn how to create, create art. Even if you just do it for yourself or for your friends. So again, sign up and get going, because it's more than worth it.
