Speakers: David , UK
David : Hi my name is David and I'm from Hertford in the UK.
What was your previous level of art experience?
David : Before starting Draw Awesome. I've had very little art experience for most of my life up till the age of about 55 or 56. I've done virtually nothing, having been put off by an art teacher who told me that he didn't want to waste good paper on on me! Following my retirement from work, I decided that was something I wanted to explore, find out more about. And a friend of mine who was an art teacher started giving me some ideas, some pointers, but that was a little bit more of a sort of history of art or an art appreciation idea, which which was great. Understood that - I loved going around the galleries with him and understanding what people were doing and trying to copy these, these type of these drawings, but what I was really struggling with was how to draw things myself and how to make my ideas look realistic on paper. Or going around town drawing a building. How to make it look like that building. That's something that we didn't particularly do that much, of. So very little art experience before starting this course.
How has Draw Awesome improved your artwork and would you recommend it?
David : The thing that I like most about Draw Awesome is the clear way that Phil guides us through what we're trying to do and the initial projects look very challenging, but they're broken down into easy, understandable stages and you're never actually overwhelmed by it. I have recommended this to a number of people, and I would certainly recommend it to anybody who wants to improve their drawing.
