Speakers: Anke , Sweden
Anke : Hello my name is Anke I'm from Sweden - a small town called Falun about 200 km north of Stockholm.
Can you show us some of the work you've done with Draw Awesome?
Anke : This is a charcoal landscape we did early on in the Course. I like it because it's a fairly loose drawing and loose was something I wasn't good at. So and also using charcoal, you lose your lines and have to redraw things, which also was a bit scary, but it worked and I like this very much.
Anke : This is from the ink module the Iguana we drew and I'm very, very pleased with this. It was time consuming and cost a lot of patience but sort of like to do that, listen to some music and just doodle alone.
Anke : Coloured Pencils - a self directed project and also time- consuming and sort of meditative to work with.
Anke : And a fun project a bit faster than the other two and it's ink and watercolour and I love watercolour. So I think it's great that Phil has used this medium in the Course.
Why did you choose the Draw Awesome Course?
Anke : I am a former student of Art Tutor and have been drawing and painting since oh, about 10 years.
Anke : And I have been struggling with doing my outline drawings for my paintings. They always take a very long time because I'm fuzzy and it takes time to get the proportions right.
Anke : I often end up with seeing that my proportions are out when I have shaded or painted a big amount of my painting, so I have to start over again.
Anke : That was my main concern. I wanted to get faster and more accurate.
How has the Draw Awesome Course helped you?
Anke : I have now been doing this course for a bit over six months and my drawing has become more accurate. I am faster and I have had the opportunity to try mediums I hadn't tried or hadn't worked very much with before. Ink was something I hadn't worked very much with and I enjoyed it although it was scary at the start and I do enjoy all of the mediums and something that really, really scared me, when Phil suggested we do it was going outside and sketching live. I always wanted to do it but I have been afraid to do it. But I I took my first steps and they're not masterpieces but they are done and when the weather is getting warmer I will certainly get out there again and do some sketching from life.
Would you recommend the Draw Awesome Course to others?
Anke : What I like about Draw Awesome is that it's so well planned. Yeah, from the individual lessons to the whole progression through the Course and that we get to use so many different media's and some you know from before, others you haven't used at all or not very much.
Anke : And I also like that it's continuous, it drives you to try and it gets you to push yourself to the edge of what you know and what you can do,
Anke : so if someone asked me what's the best drawing Course you would recommend, I would certainly say Draw Awesome. I have never seen anything like it. Thanks Phil, for this awesome course!
