Rhonda Adorno: Discovery Chess opens up space to play and we have so many different ways that we are trying to accomplish this goal.
Rhonda Adorno: Our vision is to be loud and out and vibrant and colorful. Getting kids excited about chess in a way that they have never been able to be excited about before.
Rhonda Adorno: When a child discovers something for the very first time, that's where I love to be. That's where I love to live. And so, Discovery Chess, When we step out into our larger community, whether that is virtually or in person, and we bring this game that looks cool, you know, with the striking Knights and the tall King and Queen... when we bring this game into their spaces, it creates such a sense of wonder and curiosity, and that's something that I wouldn't trade for the world.
Rhonda Adorno: This place of vulnerability, it's not scripted; this place of coming to terms with, you can no longer do what you are meant to do by yourself. It's a little bit frustrating, especially for someone like me, but I'm ready and I'm willing to put in the work.
Rhonda Adorno: And I'm hopeful that you will find a way to partner with me, as we go to this next level. I love your kids, I love being in the classroom with them. I love finding ways to bring joy to their daily lives. Most importantly, I want to teach this game of chess and expose children of all walks and lifestyles and backgrounds to this game that empowers them, equips them, creates a sense of wonder, and definitely a sense of discovery.
