What does democracy mean to you? Why is a healthy democracy important?
Donelle Mutiva: What does democracy mean to me and why is a healthy democracy important? I would say that democracy means to me that every voice matters that uh for lack of better terms, there's a balance to uh every policy that is passed um for the better good of the entire populace and a healthy democracy is important so that no constituent has ever left out or felt neglected or unheard or uh any constituent environment showing repercussions of the lack thereof.
Tell us your democracy story. How does it impact your life or issues you care about? How do you show up for our democracy?
Donelle Mutiva: My democracy story is that as an African American male, not only am I allowed to make votes that allow the entire nation to benefit from certain policy decisions. But I'm also able to um give assistance to different candidates running for different positions in different offices where I feel like not only am I making my vote matter, but I'm also getting others to feel convinced and the policies of the candidate my choice.
Tell Congress and President Biden that we need bold action to protect our freedom to vote and our democracy!
Donelle Mutiva: A message to President Biden and the Congress. I think that moving forward with this new generation, we just need, we just need more of the youth next generation involved in political decisions that are being made, especially when they have things to do with whether or not the government shuts down uh climate change and things that will impact a younger generation that is now turning up age.
