Have you heard of debt collection service before?
May Htet : Before, I only heard about them, like pressuring debters to pay back money by any means and they only focus on their clients. So at first my opinion of them is not so good.
How did you come to interact with them?
May Htet : it was one year ago I borrowed a decent amount of money from my best friend. I needed it urgently to hospitalize my sibling and thought I could give it back after six months. But unfortunately I got laid off from my job because of that pandemic. At that time, I was so depressed and anxious. So I cut off all the contact with her desperately. But deep down I was so ashamed of myself because I'm the one destroying the friendship and I couldn't keep that promise. But later on I got a call from that debt collection service. Although they just said to me that they only want me to go to their office and discuss with them. But I was very frightened and thought they may humiliate me in public and avoided all calls and tried to hide But One day when I was back to my home a girl approached me and introduced herself as a debt collector and then I realized that there were two guys in the same uniform as that girl glancing at us from distance. After that I panic immediately. But she calmed me down by saying there's no need to worry. They will listen to my difficulties in paying back the money. We just need some time to discuss. After hearing her saying that I was rest assured that they could do me no harm. So I took great courage and went to their office and explained my every situation. We discussed possible options and in the end come to an agreement that I'll search for a job and will pay back in an installment. Those debt collectors really treated me respectfully and even helped me in finding my job.
Have you returned back all the money?
May Htet : Yes, of course, I have paid back all of my debts. My friend also understood my situation and forgave me. And now we are able to hang out again at we used to be. I'm really, really glad that I can continue my friendship, thanks to that collection service acting as negotiators between us.
