Speaker: Heather Burris

Why, as an adolescent or parent of an adolescent, do you find it important to get the HPV vaccine?

Heather Burris: I find it important to vaccinate my daughter against HPV because she is entering her preteen years. And it is the one immunization that is guaranteed to help protect her against any future cancers like cervical cancer. Um and things that might affect her later in life.

How will getting the HPV vaccine benefit you or your child?

Heather Burris: By getting my first dose of HPV. I am protected from future cancer and I am one step ahead of being prepared for middle school.

Why do you feel safe getting the HPV vaccine for yourself or your child?

Heather Burris: I feel safe getting out of the HPV vaccine because one, it's been around for over 10 years and um you know, working in public health, I know the benefits of it and I know how it's impacted so many groups and um it's even been recommended for older ages now. So that encourages me to know that it's a safe vaccine. Um and uh that she will benefit from it ultimately. Uh What about you? And I feel safe getting the HPV vaccine because I've gotten other shots before and I know that it's not as scary as you've seen.
