What do you hope teachers will take away from this course?
Betsy Butler: Hi, I'm Betsy Butler. I'm the course creator for course 5502: Nurturing Kindness in Classrooms, Schools and Beyond. This course has everything you need to add more kindness practices to your classroom, your school or your community. There's opportunities to design activities and designing a calendar for students to follow so that they understand how important empathy is at every step of the way.
What do you love about this course?
Betsy Butler: This course goes beyond simple kindness and empathy to recognize those who are different, those who have different experiences that they bring to the classroom and to the school. And so there is a great focus on this in this course, on inclusion and making sure that there is education opportunities for all and that all and belonging is an important part of that. I'd also say that we talk about windows and mirrors, which is a really important piece about understanding representation and being able for students to be able to see themselves in the things that they study and the things they learn. This is just an overall great course and will change the way you do your classroom.
