The course begins by developing students basic knowledge of AI such as recognizing the different types of AI and knowing when and where AI is being used. Then, students gain a tangible understanding of AI concepts with hands on projects and experiments to try out using AI tools. A key component of AI literacy is teaching students how to interact with generative AI. The course provides ideas for lessons about how to effectively communicate and collaborate with AI, how to understand the capabilities and limitations of AI and how to critically evaluate AI output for bias and accuracy.
