Speaker: Ryan Kirk, PsyD, Psychologist + Continued presenter
Ryan Kirk, PsyD: Online continuing ed is important because it's an opportunity to connect with so many great minds in a really efficient way. I think many of us as professionals are meeting tons of different demands and oftentimes serving patient care, so this can really level the playing field if you're unable to say, hop on a plane and attend a conference across the country. It's a better opportunity to meet with people who are innovators, but you don't necessarily have to go to a different space. I also think there's something beautiful about the absorption of the material. When you have an online format, you oftentimes can pause, rewind, apply the material in a way that might not be possible in a traditional classroom format. And flip side of that, I really do appreciate that Continued also offers those live opportunities for those who want more interaction. And then they have an overall library where you can go back and reaccess those materials.
Ryan Kirk, PsyD: Overall I think Continued is doing a really great job of having their various disciplines interact. There seems to be a lot of cross pollination where you have an opportunity to learn from experts in other fields who also may touch on your profession in a really meaningful way. So, for example, in my presentations as a psychologist, I might be able to provide training on how to mitigate patient risk, for other healthcare professionals that aren't necessarily psychologists, and I like having that wider reach in my material as well. I also think Continued works hard to ensure that we have a lot of innovative speakers, and so they have many topics that are, not only outside of the box but also very cutting- edge.
Ryan Kirk, PsyD: I always enjoy getting to collaborate with them both as a presenter and as a learner, and I would say I'd highly recommend Continued's offerings to my colleagues and believe they more than meet the education standards for maintaining licensure and professional development.
