Speaker: Johnny Barrientos, Apprentice Lineman, Georgia Power

Please introduce yourself, then describe the events in your life that led you to the Construction Ready program.

Johnny Barrientos: Hey, my name is Johnny Barrientos Valle I am 21 years old, from Hartwell Georgia. I graduated in 2019. Right after high school, I went to work in the construction field, which was doing concrete ... I was doing anything to save money for my school. So after that I went to welding and worked a little bit and went to school at the same time and which was lineman school and I am recently currently in with Georgia Power ... looking forward to being a lineman.

Describe your experience with the Construction Ready program. Tell others how much you enjoyed it and what you loved the most.

Johnny Barrientos: I love the work. Ever since high school I was in work based learning and had to go to school took classes, get off and go to work. One of the best things out there, especially when you need help, like my situation, I needed to work and uh ... yeah.

Describe your life now after Construction Ready. What's your career like? What are you learning? How do you feel?

Johnny Barrientos: So now that I'm with Georgia Power, it's the best thing, I've done, the best job I've had, the best benefits. I pretty much don't struggle no more like I used to and I'm learning how to do a lot of overhead on power lines and trying to get some underground training too. That's the best thing that's happened to me.
