Speaker: Tunisia Amos Isom
Tell us who you are, what you do, and a bit about your practice, including what state you practice in and the types of patients you see.
Tunisia Amos Isom: Welcome to Royalty Community Health. My name is Tunisia Amos Isom I'm a certified family nurse practitioner, working out of Middle Georgia. Royalty Community Health was established in 2021. We are a 501 c three nonprofit organization focusing on chronic care management. We service our nation's veterans, rural inhabitants, homeless who seek refuge and the elderly who are homebound. We tend to focus on these groups due to lack of provider support and health care facilities within the community. Chronic care management is a healthy way of helping the providers stay involved and informed in their members care. It provides an opportunity to teach, to educate and to get to know the individual on a personal level through constant communication and access to their home lives. It is also a way for the individual to be able to learn how to communicate with the provider on things that they require. Like I said, royalty, Community Health is a nonprofit organization and nonprofits are ran off of donations. So we would welcome your donations and we need the help. We do need help with accessing a vehicle to get around and to go into the homes of these members and service them. We also need equipment. and any donation is helpful in keeping the doors of our organization open. You can donate at royaltyhealth.org or you can send any monetary or equipment to 215 main street suite S2 Barnesville, Georgia, 30204. We are so grateful for this platform and for NNPEN & Collaborating Docs for giving us this opportunity to showcase our organization. Thank you so much. Bye.
How has your journey been as a practice owner? What's been your biggest challenge?
Tunisia Amos Isom: So my journey thus far as a founder of an organization slash practice, honor has been an everyday feat. So you take the days as um accomplishments because anything that moves the process along a little bit further is an accomplishment. So you have to accept the small things and filter out the negative. Even if it does take a lot to overcome those negatives, A lot of patients um with the process of paperwork and just getting bills paid, things like that becomes very challenging when you're running off of very minute funds. And also my biggest challenge would be asking for help. I think that's my biggest challenge and getting donations um putting myself in, in places where learning the information, having the time to learn the information on how to approach donors and things of that nature. So it's been a learning process every day. You learn something new about business and how you play a major role in the success of it.
What piece of advice do you have to future NP/PA entrepreneurs?
Tunisia Amos Isom: Future advice for nurse practitioners or PAs who um have the knack to dive into this journey of entrepreneurship, go for it. It is a challenge you'll have. You'll develop a lot of patience. You will learn to know a little bit more about yourself that you didn't know it throughout the journey and you will overcome adversity and setbacks. But if you believe in yourself, you will win and your vision will become a powerful force and the nursing profession and the physician assistant profession and you will exceed in your expectations for yourself. So I say go for it.
Tell us about your experience using Collaborating Docs for your collaborating physician:
Tunisia Amos Isom: So my experience with using collaborating docs to find my collaborating physician was easy. They did all the leg work and all you were left to do is sign an agreement. Initially, the first physician did not work out, but it was a quick turnaround and they found the perfect person for me, the second go around. So I am very happy with my collaborating physician. He is wonderful and I thank collaborating docs because they rock.
