Speaker: Dr. Debbie Faubus-Kendrick
What inspired you to become part of SAAEF?
Hi, I'm Debbie Faubus-Kendrick and I'm the director of Crawford County Adult Ed in Van Buren, Arkansas. And what inspired me to become part of SAAEF is that I have been advocating for adulted for 18 years and I wanted to reach out to other people throughout the United States and try to get some new ideas, see what's working in some states and not working in other states and just to kind of have some resources out there to help if we need information. The biggest accomplishment for me I think was bringing the new directors together. We have some, I think 10 to 15 new directors and when I say new, I say 3 years or less and it's very difficult to for them to know what to do to move forward in recruiting, when advocating, and who do I advocate with. So I feel like the training that we did was a start to getting people moving forward and reaching out to our stakeholders. What would I say to someone, if you love Adult Ed and you want to know more about Adult Ed and get involved. We need you, get on board, get involved. You may not be the frontline person, but you may have someone in your facility that can be the frontline person and you can definitely promote them. Thank you. I've enjoyed the ride.
