Speaker: Lynne Hamblin
What inspired you to become part of SAAEF?
Lynne Hamblin: Getting my GED later in life really inspired me to the call of advocacy, which led me to the SAAEF Fellowship. Which really I wanted to step into more of the political side and view it on a different lens. Most of my advocacy had been institutionally done, so I really wanted to apply to SAAEF to be part of something a little bit bigger.
What were your biggest accomplishments during your SAAEF fellowship?
Lynne Hamblin: My biggest accomplishment during the past year as the Oregon State SAAEF Fellow really has just been networking and building relationships. Unfortunately, Oregon is a state without a state association. So hopefully the next SAAEF fellow will be able to establish that and I can work to be part of that moving forward.
What would you like to say to someone in the field who is unsure if they have what it takes to be an advocate?
Lynne Hamblin: If you at all have any inkling to apply to be a SAAEF fellow, I absolutely recommend doing it. The camaraderie across all the states and learning from each other is amazing. Having the time together and networking to build a better platform for our adult learners is absolutely huge.
