What inspired you to become part of SAAEF?
Ja'Ken Caston: Hi, I'm Ja'Ken Caston. I joined SAAEF to truly understand advocacy and learn how to apply it to my work. Here I've discovered the power to aid in my professional quest to shatter the revolving door of recidivism and to foster lasting change in our community. Every day I put these lessons into action, creating real impact.
What were your biggest accomplishments during your SAAEF fellowship?
Ja'Ken Caston: During my SAAEF fellowship, my biggest accomplishments were building lifelong connections and meeting incredible people who share a passion for advocacy. These relationships are not only enriching my journey, but they're also opening doors to exciting future opportunities, including speaking engagements and professional development. I'm thrilled about the possibilities that lie ahead as we continue to grow together.
What would you like to say to someone in the field who is unsure if they have what it takes to be an advocate?
Ja'Ken Caston: If you're ever feeling unsure about stepping into advocacy, remember this, you are enough. Too often we let our doubts block our own success. Don't hold yourself back. Start right where you are and let the world know about the incredible work happening in and around adult education across the United States of America.
