Speaker: Eugenia Blackstone, CMO, Iris Powered by Generali

Please could you introduce yourself.

Eugenia Blackstone: I'm Eugenia Blackstone, the CMO at Iris Power by Generali. Iris is A B to B to C identity and cyber protection provider whose mission is to bring our clients customers from distress to relief.

What song or musical piece best represents your approach to leadership, and why?

Eugenia Blackstone: I would say the song or musical piece that best represents my approach to leadership is Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. And most folks know that is, don't worry, I'm not gonna sing the whole thing because I can't sing. But um and it's not because folks shouldn't worry or they're not the things that need to be worried about, but worry in and of itself is not going to solve a problem. And so when I approach leadership or the way I lead my team, it's really let's roll up our sleeves, let's, you know, make the best decisions we can make based on the information that we have. Let's do the research, check all the boxes, you know, do everything that we possibly can to make the best decisions. But then after that, you can't spend time just worrying about things, what's going to be will be. And if you've done all the things uh leading up to making a decision or doing things um related to leadership properly, everything tends to work out just fine.

If you could go back in time and learn any new skill, what would it be and how would it benefit your work?

Eugenia Blackstone: If I could go back in time and learn any new skill, I think it would be some sort of very highly technical coding skills. Um With me working in the identity and cyber protection space, I think this could be beneficial in a number of ways. Uh Number one, just understanding how the dark web functions uh much better in understanding um how viruses cyber viruses are developed and created and the impact that they have. I think really understanding how technical coding works would help me be able to articulate the benefits to end consumers and our clients of having this sort of protection in place. And it will probably also make our internal technical team. Um a little happier in that I would understand how complicated and complex their jobs are and maybe, you know, get off their back a little bit about time to market or speed to market or you know, how quickly we're ready to launch certain things. So that's what I said.

Eugenia Blackstone: Join me at the CMO summit on September 3rd.
