Speaker: Lukas Erichsen, IT & Media Manager, Sea Shepherd Global
Lukas Erichsen: Hi, my name is Lukas. I work for Sea Shepherd Global. We were recently approved into Project Galileo and have been super happy about it so far. Our organization is a marine conservation organization. We primarily focus on defending, conserving and protecting marine wildlife worldwide.
Lukas Erichsen: We're primarily focused on illegal fishing, since that is really the biggest threat to the oceans.
Lukas Erichsen: One thing I'd like to say about Sea Shepherd and our work is that even though we are a relatively small team, we have an outsized footprint considering the size of our team basically. That also means that we have very little staff to do the technical behind-the-scenes work like IT security.
Lukas Erichsen: We initially started with Cloudflare when we were pretty close to being the victims of a ransomware attack. Thankfully, we did manage to catch it in time and avoid any issues.
Lukas Erichsen: That's where we switched over some of our products or some of our systems to Cloudflare's Zero Trust platform to provide just an extra layer of security and provide that breathing room for us to operate with our smaller team while having confidence in our security and our systems. Since then, we were accepted into Project Galileo which has been amazing so far.
Lukas Erichsen: It's almost like having an additional team member.
