Hi, I'm Daryl Cagle. I run a newspaper syndicate, Cagle Cartoons, that syndicates editorial cartoons by the best editorial cartoonists around the world to many hundreds of subscribing newspapers and websites around the world. Our servers, sites, and online delivery are protected by Cloudflare through Project Galileo, and we couldn't be in business without this protection. Our sites and political cartoonists are a target of an astounding amount of hacker attacks.

Editorial cartoons are an important historical part of journalism and are even more important internationally, where they are the most visible target for hackers. Cartoonists are an endangered species, as cartoonists are intimidated, persecuted, beaten and jailed by repressive governments. Our colleagues at Charlie Hebdo magazine in France were murdered. Two of our cartoonists in our group were recently jailed for their cartoons. Many are intimidated by their governments through thugs and threats. But these governments don't get to us because we've got Project Galileo. Cloudflare allows us to keep the cartoonists' views on display around the globe; as newspapers and income for cartoonists and syndicators declines with the decline of print, we simply don't have the resources to pay for the powerful protections that Project Galileo provides to us. And I can literally say that Project Galileo keeps us in business. We would be swept away by the tsunami of online attacks without Project Galileo. Cloudflare and Project Galileo have saved us and 100 of the world's top political cartoonists. That means a lot, not just to us, but to journalism and to the world.
