Speaker: Shane Tenny
Shane Tenny: uh. Help me empower a leadership team who could execute on the vision that I as the entrepreneur set for our company.
How has EOS changed your business or organization?
Shane Tenny: Hi there, my name is Shane Tenney. I'm the managing partner of Spa, Dameron Tenney. We're a boutique financial planning firm based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, and we've been running on EOS for about 4 years now. And it has been a huge improvement and game changer for our business. For many years I've attended strategic coach, and it's been really helpful to me as an entrepreneur to get my thinking right, to think about delegating and getting our team aligned and setting clear vision, but perhaps like your company, we found that we'd go through these cycles of growth and then kind of plateau and then growth and plateau, and Through COVID, we had some uh extreme growth, and then it just felt like we were hitting our heads against the ceiling and I was really just uh kind of tired, I was stressed, I was overwhelmed because I'm used to being able to put the business on my back and just drag us up across the finish line. And instead it just wasn't working anymore. I was introduced by a colleague at Strategic Coach to the book Traction and through that got exposed to EOS and found a system that would help uh. Help me empower a leadership team who could execute on the vision that I as the entrepreneur set for our company. And so that has been the huge breakthrough is being able to spread out the work and tap into the skills and the energy and the intellectual ability of our leadership team. And that has just taken a weight and a stress off of my shoulders, and it's allowed us to break through and start accomplishing new things and reaching the goals that we set for ourselves. So EOS has been just phenomenal for our group in in terms of helping us grow with less stress.
What has your experience working with Charley been like?
Shane Tenny: After reading the book traction, the first decision to make was just whether we were going to try and self-implement or hire an implementer, and we very quickly, I say we, meaning our leadership team, I had all of us read the book. Realize that if we try to do this ourselves, we will be limiting our ability to contribute to the outcome of the meetings and the work, and, and by that I mean that as an example, if I try to facilitate these meetings and try to drive the work, I will be always thinking about the next step or about the next topic or in a meeting I'm thinking about the next agenda point instead of being able to relax and be present in the conversation. So I started asking around. We were introduced to several implementers, and when we connected with Charlie, it just felt like a good fit right off the bat. He came to our office, went through about a 1 or 2 hour kind of due diligence type of meeting, showing us kind of how EOS works, giving us a better understanding of the concepts, and at the end of that meeting, our leadership team voted and agreed that we definitely felt like we would benefit by having Charlie help us out. He's got the right temperament and demeanor, easy, easygoing, laid back, good humor, willing to let us kind of rabbit trail a little bit, but Always bringing us back, and he's got the experience, I think, 9 or 10 years as an implementer working with many, many different companies over, I think, 500 different sessions now. And so it's, it's been a real investment in us by having him come. And again, that's, we're investing in our ability to be present and contribute to solving the problems that we need to solve for our company. So he's been a great partner to us and our leadership team and company.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about implementing EOS?
Shane Tenny: You know, for somebody thinking about EOS, I, I, I'm assuming that you've already read the book Traction, but if not, that is definitely the place to start. That will expose you to the concepts, the thinking, the rationale behind a lot of the structure the EOS can bring to your organization, and from there, you simply get to make the decision over whether you want to try to tackle all this yourself or whether it will be more effective to have someone from the outside come and bring some accountability to you and the leadership team. Uh, if so, then I'd suggest calling Charlie White and have him come by your office for a complimentary, uh, workshop session with your leadership team, and you can decide for yourself whether it'll be the right fit for you.
