Speaker: Novella, History Teacher & Charles Butt Scholar Alum
What does the Charles Butt Scholarship mean to you?
Novella: I think it's a very special scholarship in that it creates such a community and within the College of Education at UT there's so many events and there's just such community between the scholars. It's really lovely. I went back now as a teacher and spoke to the current scholars about what it's been like teaching and it's just a very nice scholarship community to be a part of.
What would you tell a prospective applicant about the Charles Butt Scholarship?
Novella: I would tell a prospective applicant that they should work so hard on their application, try to put their best foot forward because this scholarship is going to be such a wonderful thing for them if they happen to get it. I would tell them that the community aspect is so important, will give you friends and community, will give you a lot of food, but mostly give you stability in college. And it's absolutely, I mean, the best thing you can do during college is apply.
