Speaker: Veronica Grgich, Manager - Epic Education Services
The colleague/team I want to recognize is...
Veronica Grgich: The team that I would like to recognize is the s core epic education services team.
They deserve ______ award because....(share a brief story or example why they should be honored.)
Veronica Grgich: They deserve this award because they recently completed a full rebuild of the epic education training environments. Um The mountain division education environments had not been redone in almost 10 years of this group of awesome individuals on my teams um worked together um for almost a year leading up to the project. Uh What makes this group so special is that prior to this project, the majority of them had zero build experiences. Uh Tamika Murchison on my team stepped up. She was project lead and she did an incredible job of guiding the group step by step along the way. Uh She held training sessions with the team and, and answered questions to make sure that they were prepared and ready when the time came to do the build. Uh What's also so amazing about my team is that in addition to this huge project, they also kept up on their day to day responsibility. They rounded in the facilities, they answered the support phone and they amongst all four sites and all of our different epic facilities managed to train almost 1000 new hires while also working on this project. Uh We partnered closely with our PSG education team members as they were also rebuilding their training environment and worked really well together to ensure uh this project was uh done successfully. Uh The impact of an updated training environment on end users is so important. Uh They receive the most up to date and accurate training, which means they can hit the ground running and provide the best possible patient care available. I'm so proud of each and every member of my team. They stepped far outside their comfort zones and did such an amazing job on this project and it's going to definitely be impactful for many years to come as we better serve our end users.
What everybody can learn from this colleague or team is...
Veronica Grgich: I think what everybody can learn from this team is that it's don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Um When we first let the team know that they would be doing this build, they were all very nervous and scared because they, like I mentioned, have zero build experience from an epic standpoint. They are educators and that is their area of expertise and they do a great job, but each one of them stepped far outside their comfort zone, uh learned what they needed to learn and have all commented on how amazing it is now that they've got this build experience that at the end of the day makes them better trainers so we can learn from my team as a prime example of that. Sometimes it's worth doing something that scares you because in the long run that stretches you and you grow and you come away with so much more knowledge than you ever knew you had.
Clients and colleagues have shared...
Veronica Grgich: We are just completing this project. In fact, we just have a few more steps to go before it's fully completed as I'm recording this video. But so far, we have already seen the positive impact of an up to date training environment uh for our end users, one of our employees, uh Sherell Wilcox in Alaska the morning that we pushed it and it was live, she posted in our group chat that it felt like Christmas morning that she was able to have current and up to date patients to train new hires on. Um at the end of the day, we know that having the most up to date training environment best prepares our nurses and our doctors and everyone else who uses epic to ultimately provide the best patient care possible. So, although we don't have a lot of comments from colleagues and end users quite yet, because this is a fairly new completed project. What we have seen so far is um nothing but positive and we anticipate that that will just continue to grow.
