Speaker: Renee Godwin, Epic Architect
Renee Godwin: Hi, my name is Renee Godwin. I am an Epic architect on the CereCore team and I have been employed with CereCore for seven years.
Describe the organization or non-profit you support and volunteer for.
Renee Godwin: The organization that I volunteer with and support is Southeastern Guide Dogs. And like this sign in my yard says, I am a proud puppy raiser. We got our first puppy 14 months ago, her name is Coach. And we have been laying a solid foundation for her future career as a guide dog. If you are interested in supporting financially, or if you want to learn more about being a puppy raiser and joining this club, please let me know it is a wonderful worthwhile adventure.
How did you discover your passion for this charity/ non-profit/ volunteering opportunity? What made you turn your passion into action?
Renee Godwin: How I came to serve at Southeastern Guide Dogs. I think it really is Southeastern sort of found us. But either way, this organization is all about hope and independence. And for me, after we met a couple of the dogs and the raisers: college kids, high school students, and regular old folks like me. I realized it was about giving someone else hope, but it was also about getting hope from these dogs, from the experiences, and to be part of the foundation of raising these puppies to go and embark on a career that's gonna give someone independent living. And after a couple of videos online of people who had guide dogs and their stories, I was hooked. It did not take very long for us to get hooked when a 10 week old puppy named Coach came into our life. So, that's kind of how we got involved. And that's what keeps us every day continuously training, loving, and taking care of her because we know this is bigger than us. It's not about a family pet, it's about giving someone independence and hope, and that is pretty special. So, I am very blessed to be a part of this organization.
Renee Godwin: I am the link because I volunteer at Southeastern Guide Dogs.
