Speaker: David Sinclair

In 30 seconds or less, say your name, where in Florida you live, and how you’ve been impacted by high electricity bills.

David Sinclair: My name is David Sinclair. I'm 76 years old. I'm a retiree. I live in Tampa Florida. My electric bill is close to $200. It jumped in the last year from about $100 to 200. Now we know the summer was hotter. The understanding of, of that. But the 62% increase in my area of Tampa Electric is unacceptable. I know that the company gives justifications but that is not acceptable. It is not logical. It is not responsible. For me to speak to the public service commission on these issues of electric rates. I would have to travel from Tampa up to Tallahassee. I would say to the public service commission, you need to come to my county so we can have the public service commission, listen to the customers here where we live so you can hear what our problems are and our complaints and our suggestions. My statement to my company to the utility in my community to Tampa Electric would be, you are not our master. You are here to serve the public, you have a monopoly, but you still need to listen to the customers. You need to be fair. You are using excuses that are unacceptable to us. The reasons you give for your electric rate hikes are unacceptable. You are not our master.
