Speaker: Erin Stefani, Gifted Education Teacher, Scranton School District
Erin Stefani: I've found it's been invaluable actually this year.
How did you first learn about CareerVillage?
Erin Stefani: I first learned about CareerVillage back in December when I received an email that they had a 20 hour curriculum out involving to do lists, career goals, and being able to ask questions of professionals. And I found that to be a great resource for my students. They have really enjoyed being able to ask questions to find out what they may or may not want to do in the future, and then creating the to do list helps them stay focused and on task. So I really enjoyed it.
What do you believe is the value of CareerVillage for students?
Erin Stefani: All of the professionals that have responded to my students have been phenomenal. The answers or the responses they've given have been very, very helpful. I've had students who have no idea what they want to do and are asking questions about a variety of careers, or saying they don't know what they want to do or how can they even get started. To students who have something particular in mind and have very specific details about that particular career. All of the responses, whether there's been two or three responses or there's been seven or eight responses have been great. When the students see more than three responses, it's really neat to either see the different points of view that each person that responded gave, or if they're the same that responded gave, or if they're the same answers, then it lets the students know how important those particular things are with that particular career. I've been very, very impressed with, the professionals in their responses. the professionals in their responses.
How do you think CareerVillage enhances classroom instruction?
Erin Stefani: I think that CareerVillage.org enhances the classroom instruction tremendously having to do with careers. Having the goals, to do lists, the questions to ask, keeping them organized, all in one place, having the graphic organizer to put everything down on, every few lessons having the reflections to look back at things. Actually put down in writing what helped you and what didn't help you has been very great for my students. I can't say enough good things.
Will you use CareerVillage next school year?
Erin Stefani: I believe there's a great deal of value with CareerVillage.org as well as the curriculum that I've been using and I can't wait to use the 10 hour curriculum next year with some of my Freshman that will be coming up
