On the value of CareerVillage

Chanika R. Perry: The value of CareerVillage for students. Gosh. You can't actually.. you can't actually undersell the value of CareerVillage for students. What I loved about it and why I was really excited to connect CareerVillage to a local school, to one of our [Hands on Atlanta] partners in particular was because I, as an educator, would have loved, loved, loved, loved to have had access to something as wonderful as CareerVillage for my students. I was a high school educator by trade. (students must be +13 to sign up) (students must be +13 to sign up) (students must be +13 to sign up) How magical would it have been in this era, where everything is very social media immediate. They want to see who's liking their questions. They want to engage online with something that feels very much like social media. And that is what I think CareerVillage actually offers for students. And for educators, it is a safe space to ask a question and know that you're going to get an answer from someone who actually cares about giving you advice. So it's a troll free environment, where you can trust that people who are responding care about giving you the highest quality advice that they possibly can. You understand that it's subjective, it's coming from them, but these are professionals all across the country. And so even though you might be on your little dirt road in Burke County, Georgia, or you may be in your metropolis of New York City, it doesn't matter. You can get advice and you can get that crowdsourced advice from people who are all over, who might be doing a career that you are interested in, but actually have no access to in your little limited environment in some cases. And so I think that that is a tremendous value for educators for students.
