What is a highlight from your time on the CIP-PSTF Board of Directors?
Steve Willis: I really enjoy working on the CIP-PSTF Board of Directors. It's a great group of people from around the country who are all very committed to helping students, both recognizing excellence and helping people in financial need and trying to pursue their education. We're all working together on the same goals and it's a great feeling to be with such a like-minded group.
What do you know now that you wish you'd known when you first put your name forward for the Board of Directors?
Steve Willis: I learned a lot during my time on the PSTF board. One of the key things is the motivations people have for donating, whether they be individuals or corporations. And I think understanding that is something I've grown with me over time and it's made it easier for me to approach people to donate. But it's certainly one of the key parts of the role is to understand that.
What would you like to tell the planning community about the organization’s impact on students?
Steve Willis: The scholarships and bursaries have a huge impact on the up and coming planners who are entering the profession. We're giving them an opportunity to help advance their education through financial support. And these are some of the brightest minds coming forward and it's the future of our profession. I think it's extremely important we do what we can for those of us who have established careers to support them.
